Sparkling Banana

The experiences I have had so far during my ABM training have been new, unlike anything I have encountered before. To gain awareness of what you body and brain are doing is empowering. Practicing on others is fascinating. There is so much connecting happening...internal connections, and connections with others who are making their own connections.

This morning, Marcy gave a transformational movement lesson involving the eyes. After laying down and engaging our eyes in movement, it was time for lunch. I rolled to my belly and looked at all the colors and fibers in the mat in front of me. I was kind of in a daze, a little groggy, and definitely hungry.

I was looking forward to my avocado. After I enjoyed the lovely slices, I took a banana out of my brown bag. It had been in there a few days, and had really started to brown.

Then I peeled it.

The inside of the banana was SPARKLING! I was sitting in the sun, looking in amazement at something I'd usually gobble down on the go. When I say sparking, it looked like it was made of some ethereal glitter. I could actually see all the little fibers that comprised the flesh, and I could see how they were all reflecting the sunlight at different angles.

I can't stop thinking about it. I can't stop thinking about how I could see all the tiniest details of different textures of all the things around me, reflecting the sunlight in their own unique ways.

Really, we can only see with light. And I was witnessing light at a more refined level because my brain was reorganizing itself visually. I didn't go to the optometrist and get a pair of glasses. I wasn't trying to focus. My brain was registering the stimulation and turning it into fabulous information.

  2. Thank you. I am soaking up as much as I can! I'm definitely rereading Kids Beyond Limits to try and relive the experience as much as I can. Please keep in touch. Whatever you are doing at home, keep on. The thing I see most from people is their enthusiasm. It is a powerful thing and you have it!
